Congratulations on a job well done to the 5th Grade Quest class. Mrs. McAdams did an outstanding job in guiding her students through research, writing scripts, and presenting a super program. The backdrop was beautiful and the kids did very well in their presentation of their research of Christmas around the world. My camera was on the blink but I did manage to get a few pictures.

Shopping for our person at the VA Nursing home
The Christmas spirit was in the air as students boarded the bus to begin the exciting venture of shopping for our person at the VA Nursing Home. There were grins on each child's face as he/she looked forward to the opportunity to give to another person . Students donated money from their piggy banks, their allowances and from their sweet parents so that they could make a few wishes come true. I (Mrs. Land) loved making blankets for our person and two others. I must say....it was a little hard for this MSU fan to make an OLE MISS blanket, but as any good spirited MSU fan would do.....I convinced my MSU sewing machine that we could do this task. My husband and I even went a step further and made this Ole Miss fan a replica of the "Gold Egg" to award to our loyal Ole Miss Veteran. GULP!!!! That was a little hard to do....but in the spirit of making this fan's day, we did it. P and E (students) will love giving this to this special Ole Miss fan. They probably will wear their Ole Miss clothes to rub it in!!!!
We received word on Monday that the nursing home had patients with flu and that we would not be able to sing on Wednesday. We are praying that we can go on Monday. If we are not able to go because of all of the sickness, the teachers will take the gifts to our special people. I definitely will take a lot of pictures.
Shopping trip pictures. THIS teacher will not even blink an eye the next time she has to take 4 grandchildren to Wal Mart! These are the most well-mannered children and their behavior was awesome!!! I am so thankful for the opportunity to bring experiences into their lives.

B says, "Shop 'til we DROP!" "Buy these cookies because she will like these!"
"I think we should get this....no, this.....no, I love this....I think she would like this!" Oh what fun it is to shop!!!!!
"Let me see.....1,2,3,4,5,6,7, 8, 9, 10.....WHEW.....I have all of my group!!!"
We were so glad to have Mrs. Spears join us on this trip.
Mrs. Fulton is a shopping DIVA!!! E loves to shop too!!!
"Oh look! I think I may come back and get one of these for myself!"
"Can we stay longer to shop?"
"HMMMM! What do you think about this?"
Mrs. Land loves shopping too!!
Here we are......how many parents would take this many on a shopping trip?

Update on Flat Stanley
We have had so much fun with our Flat Stanley, alias other names, project. Students have been working on displays for their Flat Stanley exhibition on January 10, 2013. The students have learned so many skills as they learn about the city and state that their Flat person visited. We still have about 10 Flat people still out and we are very eager to see where they have visited. One sent pictures for Flat Azikwe who is visiting in Sugar Hill, Georgia......Wow!!! That sounds like my kind of place. Mr. Land and I were so thrilled to be able to take Flat Lacey and Flat Blake through Nashville, TN and Alabama on our recent trip to those places. Flat Lacey had been visiting with Mrs. Land's son, Jeff at the Lifeway building where he works. Of course, he put her to work right away editing and publishing some of his articles for Lifeway. Pictures are below!!! ENJOY!!!

Flat People welcome Host Abbey home after she ran in the Ragnar Race from Chattanooga to Nashville.
Mrs. Land's grandson, Will, considered giving the Flat People a makeover.....Mrs. Land rescued them.
The Flat people posed on the StarRock of Reba and two Mississippi singers: Elvis Presley and Marty Stuart! Wow!
Mrs. Land had to coax Baby Tuck to give Flat Lacey and Flat Blake back!

We went home through Alabama....Mrs. Land was born in Alabama. The Flat People loved seeing the huge spaceship at the welcome center.

UPDATE on FLAT STANLEYS
It has been soooo exciting to hear from so many people who are having a blast with the Flat Stanleys. The one in Kentucky is going to Churchill Downs. There is one that has toured most of the monuments at Washington, D.C. and then on to New York!!!! There is another Flat Stanley who will be visiting Carnegie Hall in New York and yet another one who has toured Pennsylvania. The one in Houston has really had a lot of fun and has already made it home. I cannot wait for the children to get their Flat People (they named them their own names) back to see all that they have done. EB was the first to get her Flat Person back from her aunt in Anniston,AL!!! She was so excited. AJ has received pictures daily from Mrs. Ellis (Mrs. Land's sister) who sent them as texts. To top all of that off, ER has a Flat Person who is visiting in France and that Flat person is really taking in all of the sites......including bringing honor to the movie, Casablanca ! Wow! Here's looking at you, kid!!! or Flat Person!!!!

I Scream, You Scream, for MSU Ice CREAM!!!
I think that I failed to mention that Mrs. Fulton planned a side trip to the MSU "Ice Cream" Store or Dairy.....I did not get any ice cream....but I did bring home some EDAM Cheese. I was so excited about that, because we usually only get the cheese at Christmas! Below are pictures of the children and teachers enjoying their treat!!!
